Shams al-Emareh or Edifice of the Sun
It seems that after seeing the pictures of the buildings and skyscrapers of European countries, Naser al-Din Shah decided to build a high building like European ones in his capital, so that he could watch the view of Tehran city and the surrounding landscape from the top. Of course, in the meantime, the construction of this building cannot be ignored as an important urban indicator at the same time as the construction of Naseriyeh Street (Naser Khosrow).
The construction of the building began in 1863 AD and was completed after three years in 1866 AD. The two-tower building has the same shape, and its mirror works, paintings, and plaster mouldings on its walls, and ceilings are unique in Iran in terms of displaying various methods of interior decoration of buildings. After the necessary restorations in 1971 AD under the supervision of master Mohammad Karim Pirnia and also the restorations of the early 2000s, this building was opened to the public since 1999.
It should be noted that the upper floors of the Shams al-Emareh mansion are not accessible.
