Formerly, there was a marble pond in the middle of the pond house, and the water flowed in it through a stream covered with blue tiles, and now, to prevent the penetration of moisture and the destruction of the building, its water flow has been cut off for years, and its water supply has been done in another way. Qajar kings usually used this pond house if they were in Tehran for some reason during the summer and did not go to the countryside. According to the writings of Muayer al-Mamalek, during the time of Naser al-Din Shah, "all kinds of beautiful birds were kept in the pond house of this mansion (the current photo gallery museum). On one side of the said mansion, nests and cages were built and many birds of all kinds were kept there and sometimes while feeding them, the king would come and stand watching them and talk to his companions about catching birds and how to raise them.

The Museum of Photo Gallery displays a collection of photos from the Qajar era along with the photographic equipment of that time. After many renovations, the location of the museum has turned to its current form.

The photo collection of Golestan Palace Photo Gallery, which this museum is a small part of it, is the second collection after the Royal Collection of England. Naser al-Din Shah himself was very interested in the art of photography and the photos he took along with the photos with his handwriting on them are exhibited in the Museum of Photography.
