Tent House

Tent House (saddle house)

Probably, this building was built at the same time as Almas Mansion and it can be considered as one of the constructions of Fath Ali Shah Qajar era. The history of assigning the name Chador khaneh or Tent House to this place is not known correctly, but based on the documents, it can be stated that it was the place where the royal saddles and tents were kept at some point during the Qajar era. Zinkhaneh (Saddle house) is located on the south side of Golestan Garden and between two mansions of Almas and Badgir. The building entrance is on its north side. The entrance door opens to a space that is separated from the main hall by two columns. On the upper floor of this space, there is another pillared space that is on top of the hall like a king's seat and opens to the garden from the other side with a sash window. This space also has two small rooms on its sides, each of which looks at the garden with wooden windows. The walls of the upstairs space - unlike the plain walls of the hall - are framed and decorated with mirror pieces and has painted and mirrored decorations. The ceiling of this space was covered with paintings, a part of which remains today. Next to this space, the main hall of the building is located. Around the main space, there are pavilions and archways - with elongated proportions - which have diversified the surface of the walls. This building has been renovated many times during its lifetime, the last time was in 1998 and in line with turning it into an exhibition space. In March 2022 according to a specific plan and after being equipped with standard showcases, it became the permanent place of temporary exhibitions of Golestan Palace.
