During the restoration of Berlian Hall, a part of the tiles that were used in the original architecture of this building was found.
According to the public relations of the Golestan Palace World Heritage Complex report and Iran/ILNA news agency, Afrin Emami (Director of the Golestan Palace World Heritage Complex) said about the tiles found in the Berlian Hall: There are two closets on the north side of the hall, which according to The photos of Berlian Hall during the Pahlavi period, it seems that during the Qajar era, they were doors that probably led to the inner part of the palace, and then they were converted into closets during the renovations. During the restoration and repair of Berlian Hall, we decided to restore all architectural and other decorations without any change in the originality of the building.
Emami added: When we started the restoration of the hall, we found out that there was a wooden board on the floor of each closet, which was clearly added during the repairs and changes of the Pahlavi era. Some of these shelves were broken and because they were not strong enough to bear weight of things, they had to be repaired. When we planned to restore them, by removing those boards, a missing part of the architecture of the Berlian Hall was found.
The director of Golestan Palace continued: Inside these closets there were some tiles from the floor of the Berlian Hall, from the Qajar period, which were completely removed from the floor of the hall during the Pahlavi era repairs and replaced with the modern decorations of that era, which was parquet.
Emami added: "Unfortunately, the tiles found inside these closets were very damaged and we repaired them in an emergency protection operation."
