Golestan Palace Central Archive

Due to the necessity of updating and exploiting new technologies to improve security, quality and speed in recording and maintaining documents and other existing resources and speeding up and facilitating simultaneous use of their information, creating a comprehensive electronic bank and integrated service has the most priority.

Therefore, it is inevitable to start a comprehensive central archive of (written and digital) documents of Golestan Palace in order to create a dynamic historical memory of Golestan Palace to protect the identity and achievements of that complex.

The main mission of the Golestan Palace Central Archive office is, first of all, to integrate and collect, organize and process the available information in order to provide services to researchers regarding the resources available in the Golestan Palace. The next mission will be to exploit suitable user-friendly software regarding the use of electronic resources available in the historical collection of Golestan Palace by researchers.

The measures taken by central archive are briefly as follows:

- Receiving part of the microfilms of the Manuscript Unit and transferring it to the Central Archive Unit.

- Converting VHS videos to DVD and using the information in the videos, which provides valuable information about the reconstruction and reopening of different parts of Golestan Palace.

- Finding and organizing documentary films related to Golestan Palace by the cooperation of archival centers such as (Central Archive of Radio and Television, National Film House, Experimental Documentary Cinema Development Center, etc.).

- Receiving books related to the history of the Qajar period and archival sources from cultural and academic institutions.

- Carrying out appropriate measures for setting up the digital library of the Central Archive of Golestan Palace.

- Scanning of some important sources in the field of Qajar books which can be used by researchers in various fields.

- Collecting and organizing the posters of Golestan Palace from the past decades to the present day.

- Correspondence with educational organizations and institutions to receive theses with positive results whose researchers had used the resources available in Golestan Palace.

- Holding a specialized meeting regarding "the need to establish the central archive of Golestan Palace" in June 2017.
